Toyota Cuts Free ToyotaCare Maintenance on 2027 RAV4 to 1 Year
The 2027 Toyota RAV4 gets ToyotaCare for 1 year or 10,000 miles, down from 2 years or 25,000 miles. What buyers lose, what's new and what stays the same.

Toyota has shortened the free maintenance plan on the 2027 RAV4. In its 2027 RAV4 announcement, the company says ToyotaCare covers initial factory-scheduled maintenance for one year or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. The plan has typically run 2 years or 25,000 miles.
For 2027 buyers, that means paying out of pocket for several routine dealer visits that 2026 RAV4 buyers got free. The change sits at the end of Toyota’s announcement, in the warranty section, and was not on the company’s list of updates, according to Torque News.
An owner spotted the shorter plan
Aminda Fernando, who owns a 2026 RAV4 SE AWD hybrid, pointed out the change in a RAV4 owners group on Facebook, as reported by Torque News. Fernando wrote that the camera washer was the only difference for that trim and called the shorter maintenance schedule a step backward, describing it as “halved.”
The time on the plan is cut in half. The mileage limit falls further, from 25,000 to 10,000 miles. Roadside assistance stays at 2 years with unlimited mileage.
What it means for 2027 RAV4 owners
ToyotaCare pays for early scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations and multi-point inspections. On the 2027 RAV4, coverage stops at 10,000 miles. Scheduled visits after that point, including the 15,000, 20,000 and 25,000-mile services that the older plan covered, are now the owner’s cost.
Torque News estimates that a driver covering about 12,000 miles a year will start paying for maintenance roughly a year sooner than under the old terms. The outlet expects a few hundred dollars in maintenance costs during the stretch the old plan used to cover, though dealer prices vary. Exact services and intervals depend on the model and driving conditions and are listed in the RAV4’s Warranty and Maintenance Guide.
Buyers still choosing between model years face a tradeoff. A leftover 2026 RAV4 may come with the longer plan, while Torque News notes that ToyotaCare terms on a given vehicle can vary and should be confirmed with the dealer in writing.
What Toyota added for 2027
Toyota lists these updates for the 2027 RAV4:
- A backup camera washer, standard on all grades.
- Multi-Terrain Select on AWD models, with Rock and Dirt and Mud and Sand modes replacing Trail mode, and Snow mode moved to the drive mode switch.
- A Remote Connect trial that grows from one year to five years on all grades.
- On the Woodland, new springs, shocks and jounce bumpers that raise ground clearance to 9.1 inches, from 8.1 inches on most grades.
- On all plug-in hybrid grades, a NACS port (the Tesla-style connector), DC fast charging and a standard 11-kW onboard charger.
Toyota says 2027 RAV4 hybrids will reach dealers later this year starting at $32,300 for the LE FWD. Plug-in hybrids follow in early 2027, starting at $42,100 for the SE. Both prices exclude delivery, processing and handling.
Warranty coverage that does not change
The factory warranties on the 2027 RAV4 stay as they were, according to Toyota:
- Basic coverage: 3 years or 36,000 miles.
- Powertrain: 5 years or 60,000 miles.
- Hybrid components: 8 years or 100,000 miles.
- Hybrid battery: 10 years or 150,000 miles, transferable to later owners.
- Roadside assistance: 2 years, regardless of mileage.
Toyota did not say whether the shorter ToyotaCare terms apply to other 2027 models.
