Toyota’s 2027 RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid Adds NACS Port, 52 Miles of EV Range
The 2027 Toyota RAV4 plug-in hybrid gets a NACS charging port, DC fast charging and up to 52 miles of electric range. Key specs and warranty terms inside.

Toyota says every 2027 RAV4 plug-in hybrid grade will come with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port and DC fast charging, according to a company press release cited by Torque News. The port is the connector Tesla developed, and it replaces the J-plug and CCS1 ports used on the earlier RAV4 Prime.
The SE trim is rated for up to 52 miles of all-electric driving. That is the most electric range listed for the RAV4 plug-in hybrid trims, and it gives owners access to Tesla Supercharger plugs without an adapter.
The central numbers
- 52 miles: the all-electric range of the SE trim, the top figure Toyota gave for the lineup.
- 11 kW: the onboard AC charger now fitted to all plug-in hybrid grades, for Level 1 and Level 2 charging at home or at public stations.
- About 600 miles: the total range between refills of fuel and electricity that Torque News reports for the 2027 plug-in hybrids. The EPA has not yet updated its figures for the model, so no official number is available.
- 41 mpg: the EPA combined fuel economy of the SE trim in hybrid mode.
- 321: the combined horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard, and the car runs on 87 octane fuel.
- 5.0 seconds: the 0-60 mph time of the GR Sport trim, a figure Torque News attributes to MotorTrend.
Charging changes
Toyota said all plug-in hybrid grades now have a NACS port and DC fast charging, which the industry also calls Level 3. The charging port moves to the driver’s side on the left of the vehicle for all grades.
The 11 kW onboard charger is meant to keep pace with a home wall charger. Torque News notes that a 240-volt, 40-amp setup delivers 9.6 kW, so the car’s charger would not be the limiting factor on a 50-amp circuit.
Warranty
Hybrid-related components are covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles. The hybrid battery is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles.
What it means for shoppers
Drivers who plug in at Tesla Supercharger sites no longer need an adapter with this model, and DC fast charging is available on every plug-in hybrid grade rather than only on certain trims. With 52 miles of electric range, shorter daily trips can be covered without using gasoline, while the hybrid system handles longer drives.
Pricing and on-sale dates were not part of the information Torque News reported. The RAV4 is in its sixth generation, and the 2027 plug-in hybrid versions are the latest update to that lineup.
